  • What to do if you have worrying symptoms during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Many people are understandably concerned about visiting their GP during the current Covid pandemic. Although, it is good that most people are following the Government guidelines around staying at home and social distancing, it is important that this does not stop people getting medical advice when necessary.

There is increasing concern that some people may be ignoring potentially worrying symptoms that could be a sign of cancer or other significant health problems for fear of going to their GP practice. These might include:

  • Unexplained Pain
  • Unexplained bleeding eg – blood in poo, coughing up blood, blood in pee
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Unexplained lump(s)

Diagnosing cancer early means that it is easier to treat and treatment is more likely to be successful.

All GP practices are still open, although many appointments are being carried out by telephone or video, without people having to go into the practice. Patients are reminded if they have any of the above symptoms, or any other symptoms that they are worried about, it is important to contact you GP practice and arrange a telephone or video consultation, in the first instance. This will allow your GP to assess your symptoms and discuss with you whether you need further investigations.

If you do need to have investigations or treatment urgently, all hospitals have developed new ways of working, aimed at minimizing any risk of contact with Covid-19.

IF YOU, OR SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU HAS SYMPTOMS THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT, CONTACT YOUR GP PRACTICE FOR ADVICE.

We are pleased to notify our patients that in our recent CQC inspections for both practices, we received the rating of overall 'Good' for each individual practice. If you would like to read more about the inspection and see the reports, please follow the links:
